About the role
A teacher of dance educates students in different dance styles, methods, and techniques. Teaching dance means training pupils in how to use their bodies to communicate and to present themselves artistically and professionally.
Responsibilities
- Create lesson plans
- Teach students about dance and the history of dance
- Assist students in creating their own dance pieces
- Organize and manage the learning environment
- Direct performance rehearsals
- Assess student performances
- Choreograph two mainstage theatre productions each year
Requirements
- Compensation: Base $64,500, Experience $200 per year, Advanced Degree-Masters $3,000; PHD $5,000

Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment
- Preferably, candidates will have had prior college-level and/or professional dance performance and/or teaching experience
Skills
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed
- Ability to organize and coordinate work
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
Certification
- NJ Standard, CEAS, or CE as a Teacher of Dance (Endorsement #1635)
