Teacher (MS English-Language Arts/Social Studies).

U.S. citizenship is required. Male applicants born after 12-31-1959 must be registered with the Selective Service. A background security investigation and favorable adjudication are required. A valid driver’s license may be required as an incidental duty. Must possess and maintain a valid state teacher licensure/certification in the assigned state and specialty field. Probationary period is one academic year (two full semesters).

About the Role

Provide instruction at the professional level as a classroom teacher, team teacher, or remedial/special-services teacher according to the school’s organizational structure.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate instructional activities under stated guidelines.
• Prepare yearly instructional outlines and daily lesson plans covering relevant units of study, specifying objectives, activities, and evaluative methods/instruments for both group and individual programs.
• Teach students by selecting, developing, adapting, and implementing appropriate instructional methods and techniques using available resources to ensure academic achievement.
• Provide learning experiences in assigned subject areas that develop cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills appropriate to the needs and interests of all students.
• Continuously evaluate individual and group academic progress using criterion-referenced tests, periodic standardized tests, oral tests, and/or other relevant evaluative methods/instruments.
• Use alternative instruction to meet individual student needs.
• Make progress reports to parents and confer with parents and other concerned individuals.
• Maintain required records in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Maintain control of assigned class and handle discipline independently except for chronic or extreme behavior problems.
• Counsel individual students within established guidelines, using background information to provide an effective instruction-learning cycle as it pertains to students’ behavior and progress.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited education institution.
• Valid teacher certification/licensure in the state where the position is located and in the specialty field (English-Language Arts/Social Studies). Emergency and provisional certificates may be accepted under conditions issued by the state certification authority.
• Applicants with valid state certification in a state other than where the position is located may be considered; if selected, they must obtain full state teacher certification within two full contract terms.

Qualifications

All applicants will be rated based on submitted documentation. Applications may be further evaluated by a subject matter expert. To qualify, you must meet the education and licensure requirements for the approved job category under Public Law 95-561.

• Submit a legible copy of transcripts (official or unofficial). Official transcripts are required upon selection. Ensure transcripts are not locked or encrypted and all pages (including the transcript key) are viewable.
• Education must be from an accredited or pre-accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For foreign education, credentials must be evaluated by a private organization specializing in interpretation of foreign education programs and deemed equivalent to a U.S. education program.

Pay

Pay setting is based on degree and education credits, determined after the selection process. Pay levels are as follows:

• Pay Level 11: Bachelor’s Degree
• Pay Level 12: Bachelor’s Degree + 15 graduate semester hours
• Pay Level 13: Bachelor’s Degree + 30 graduate semester hours
• Pay Level 14: Master’s Degree
• Pay Level 15: Master’s Degree + 15 graduate semester hours
• Pay Level 16: Master’s Degree + 30 graduate semester hours
• Pay Level 17: Earned Doctorate

Education must be in coursework related to the topic being taught or general teaching methodologies. Experience is considered for determining pay increments, with a maximum of 17 years creditable. Per-hour rates are modified based on the school calendar (Modified Hourly/Date Rate).

This position is covered by a bargaining unit (Federation of Indian Service Employees, American Federation of Teachers Local 4521). Government quarters may be available. Direct deposit of pay is required. Travel and relocation expenses will not be paid. No recruitment incentive is offered.
