Location: Bedford
Salary: Between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum (pro-rata), dependent on experience and qualifications
Contract type: Fixed-term, part-time (18.5 hours per week) until 18 December 2026

About the role

We are seeking a Maths Teacher to join our Sixth Form department at The Bedford College Group. As a Teacher, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

• Delivering engaging, high-quality lessons that develop students’ knowledge, skills and understanding, while supporting achievement, retention and academic success.
• Planning and assessing learning effectively, providing timely feedback, maintaining accurate records of progress, and producing student reports to support continuous improvement.
• Contributing to curriculum development, organising enrichment activities such as trips, visits and guest speakers, and helping enhance the overall Sixth Form student experience.
• Motivating and inspiring learners, participating in parents’ evenings and promotional events, and actively supporting the promotion of the Sixth Form and wider College.
• Supporting College-wide activities including exams and events, maintaining health and safety standards, and promoting safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, and continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

• Teaching & Student Achievement: Deliver high-quality lessons that develop students’ knowledge and skills.
• Assessment & Progress Monitoring: Plan and assess learning, provide feedback, and maintain records of student progress.
• Curriculum Development & Enrichment: Contribute to curriculum development and organise enrichment activities.
• Student Engagement & College Representation: Motivate learners and represent the College at events.
• Compliance, Collaboration & Professional Development: Support College activities, maintain health and safety, and engage in continuous professional development.

Requirements

• Holds a relevant degree and teaching qualification, with current A Level teaching experience.
• Strong track record of student success and up-to-date knowledge of subject content and teaching methodologies.
• Committed to delivering high-quality, student-centred learning and maintaining high expectations for achievement and behaviour.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships.
• Able to work flexibly, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
