About the Role
A Long-Term Substitute is responsible for teaching appropriate grade-level standard-based curriculum to students, following school/district-approved curriculum while the classroom teacher is absent for an extended period of time.

Responsibilities
- Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.
- Monitors, supervises, coordinates, and enforces rules of conduct and behavior of assigned students; reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
- Observes, evaluates, reports, and records students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
- Prepares educational course outlines, objectives, and materials according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
- Establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects to students.
- Presents subject matter to students using various teaching methods and technology; adjusts teaching style and method to meet student learning styles.
- Instructs students individually and in groups using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions).
- Prepares, administers, assigns, and grades tests and assignments to evaluate student progress; reports grades using District software.
- Prepares student attendance and activity reports as required by administrators.
- Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems and coordinates instructional efforts.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
- Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license. Click here for additional information regarding specific requirements and qualifications for the various subject areas (DPS accepts a CDE Application Receipt for 90 days).

- Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while employed with us.

Pay
$30.00 per hour.
