About the role

The successful candidate will design and implement appropriate Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, utilizing Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled (MSSD) curriculum and considering transition goals, school, employment, community, and home learning environments. They will analyze student learning styles based on progress charts and adapt teaching strategies and activities to meet specific educational needs. The role involves choosing age-appropriate, functional, and safe activities, materials, equipment, and sites for teaching, integrating related services into the daily instructional program, conducting IEP team and special education meetings, coordinating behavioral support and intervention plans, communication systems, and developing daily schedules for students' IEPs. Directing teacher aides and classroom volunteers, following special health care procedures, maintaining a safe environment, and ensuring confidentiality of student, parent, and staff information are also responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and confidential environment for students.
  • Collect and analyze academic, instructional, and IEP assessment data.
  • Carry out daily self-care needs of students as needed.

Requirements

A Missouri Teaching Certificate or eligibility to obtain a temporary or provisional certification is required. Experience with individuals with disabilities is preferred. The position requires a professional license pursuant to state law.
