Teacher - General Special Education (with Biology, Earth Science, and/or English Language Arts certification)

About the role

The Nassau BOCES Department of Special Education is seeking a dynamic and collaborative General Special Education Teacher with additional certification in at least one of the following subject areas: Biology, Earth Science, English Language Arts (ELA).

Responsibilities

• Delivering NYS standards aligned instruction in ELA, Biology and/or Earth Science through an integrated instructional model
• Developing and implementing contextualized curriculum and assessments that align with NYS ELA, Biology, and/or Earth Science standards
• Differentiating lessons to meet the varying needs of all students, including those with Individualized Education Plans (IEP), while implementing evidence-based instructional practices and accommodations
• Supporting student learning by embedding content specialty areas and communication skills into differentiated instruction
• Utilizing virtual classroom management systems and instructional technology to deliver engaging, standards-based instruction

Requirements

• New York State Education Department (NYSED) Certification: Students with Disabilities (Grades 7-12) or Students with Disabilities (All Grades)
• NYSED Certification: Biology 7-12; Earth Science 7-12; and/or English Language Arts 7-12
• Three (3) or more years of experience as a certified teacher in a high school setting
• Experience working with a diverse range of student needs including students with IEP and Section 504 Plans
