About the role
Sigsbee Charter School, located in Key West, is seeking a Lead Teacher for 1st Grade to join the team for the 2026-2027 school year. The position is based at Sigsbee Elementary/Middle Charter School, 939 Felton Rd, Key West, FL 33040, with an anticipated start date as soon as possible.
Requirements
Eligibility for Florida educator certification is required. Candidates must hold Florida certification in either Elementary Education (Grades K‑6) or Prekindergarten/Primary Education (age 3 through grade 3).
Qualifications
The Florida Bureau of Educator Certification offers instructional videos and an online system setup guide at flcertify.fldoe.org/datamart/mainMenu.do to assist with the application process.
- For Elementary Education K‑6: an unexpired out‑of‑state professional educator certificate qualifies for Florida reciprocity; otherwise a bachelor’s (or higher) degree in Elementary Education 1‑6, K‑6, N/K‑6, K‑3, K‑4, K‑8, K‑9, or Upper Elementary 4‑6 is accepted for a temporary certificate. Other majors require passing the FTCE Subject Area Exam in Elementary Education K‑6.
- For Prekindergarten/Primary PK‑3: an unexpired out‑of‑state professional educator certificate qualifies for reciprocity; otherwise a bachelor’s (or higher) degree in Early Childhood Education (NK‑3, NK‑4, Birth‑Age 8; P‑5, N‑6, NK‑6, Prekindergarten/Primary Education) is accepted. Other majors require passing the FTCE Subject Area Exam in Prekindergarten/Primary PK‑3.

Pay
