About the role
Under general direction, the teacher provides quality instruction through planned lessons, diagnoses learning needs, creates and leads engaging learning activities, utilizes assessments to monitor student progress, and communicates with administration and parents. The role involves creating a flexible classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Teaches district-approved curriculum and Arizona State standards.
- Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional material; provides individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to each pupil’s needs.
- Communicates regularly with parents via newsletters, notes, phone calls, or conferences.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps records, and prepares progress reports.
- Available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
- Plans and coordinates the work of teacher aides, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
- Creates an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers, and exhibits of student work.
- Incorporates technology into lesson plans.
- Establishes and maintains good rapport with students, employees, community members, and vendors.
- Enforces classroom management structure and rules ensuring academic engagement and physical and mental safety of all students.
- Celebrates the achievements and successes of students.
- Maintains knowledge of grade-level content and standards.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Appropriate Arizona Department of Education Teaching Certification for the position hired.
- Valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).

Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
Pay
$50,000 to $77,420 per year
