TEACHER - 1ST GRADE

About the role

Lead students toward intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth by planning, organizing, and implementing an appropriate instructional program in an elementary learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality instruction that engages students in learning
• Possesses and applies knowledge of subject matter content
• Recognizes and responds appropriately to individual differences in students
• Differentiates instruction for a variety of developmental stages and ability levels
• Implements adopted curriculum, subject matter standards, and assessment instruments to meet school and district goals
• Plans lessons in a logical sequence
• Demonstrates knowledge of the subjects to be taught and their relationship to other subjects
• Reflects on teaching and devises ways of improving performance on an ongoing basis
• Collaborates with other educators to create a complete educational environment for students
• Uses a variety of assessment techniques and models to evaluate student performance
• Uses formative assessment to improve instruction
• Ensures all students meet adequate yearly progress as determined by local, state, and federal standards
• Participates in the referral-to-placement process for students being referred for Child Study
• Utilizes technology in the teaching and learning process
• Maintains a physical environment that is safe, orderly, hazard-free, and conducive to learning
• Implements approved disciplinary measures to allow for effective instruction and classroom management
• Relates to parents and other community members in a positive and helpful fashion
• Communicates instruction clearly, concisely, and in a well-planned manner
• Participates in self-initiated and school/district-initiated professional growth to maintain licensure and support school improvement
• Adheres to policies and procedures established by district, state, and federal guidelines
• Submits required reports efficiently, promptly, and accurately
• Accepts responsibility for, and inventories classroom materials, textbooks, and equipment
• Accepts co-curricular and extra-curricular duties as assigned by administration
• Participates in departmental/grade-level teams, school-level teams, and district-level committees as requested
• Attends school-related functions (e.g., PTO) outside the instructional day
• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
• Supports the Simpson County School District’s Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Principal

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education (Master’s preferred)
• Valid Mississippi Teaching Credential and License
• Appropriate endorsement and/or training for assigned courses

Pay

$46,200.00 - $76,200.00 per year.
