Teacher - Extended Resource Room: Special Education .6 FTE (2026-27)
About the role
The Special Education Teacher position is responsible for providing instruction to students with mild to moderate delays in general intellectual functioning, along with deficits in adaptive behavior.
Responsibilities
- Teach students according to the Individualized Education Program (IEP)
- Implement classroom management strategies to ensure a safe and productive learning environment
- Collaborate with parents, other educators, and specialists to support student progress
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills
- Assist in the Extended Resource Program, including transportation services for students
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field
- Valid teaching license in special education
- Experience working with students with mild to moderate delays in general intellectual functioning
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of professionals
Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs
Skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in using technology for lesson planning and student assessment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Extended Resource Program
The Extended Resource Program is a service for students who have mild to moderate delays in general intellectual functioning, existing concurrently with deficits in adaptive behavior. Students in the program receive transportation from their homes to their schools.
