About the role

The Special Education Teacher position is responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), health impairments, and mild social/emotional behavioral deficits.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specially designed instruction to meet the unique needs of students in general education settings.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and other special education meetings as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state special education laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Special Education from an accredited institution.
  • A valid teaching license in Special Education.
  • Experience working with students with SLD, health impairments, and mild social/emotional behavioral deficits.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies and assessment tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse student population and staff.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with data management systems.

Skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

The Resource Program is a service for students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), health impairment, and mild social/emotional behavioral deficits. The Resource Room provides students with specially designed instruction to be successful in general education classrooms.
