About the role
The Teacher-ESL position at Holyoke Public Schools is open for out-of-district students. This role is part of the SYSTEM WIDE hiring initiative.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction in English as a Second Language (ESL) to students from out-of-district backgrounds.
- Implement curriculum aligned with district standards and guidelines.

- Collaborate with other teachers, special education teachers, and administrators to ensure continuity of instruction.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
- A valid teaching license in ESL or a related area.
- Experience teaching ESL or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of second language acquisition theories and methodologies.
- Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual student needs.
Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Proficiency in using technology for instructional purposes.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
