About the role
Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES is seeking a dedicated and student-centered English as a New Language (ENL) Teacher to support English Language Learners (ELLs) in our component school districts.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct instruction in English language development for multilingual learners.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with students' language proficiency levels and academic needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special area teachers, and support staff to ensure students have access to grade-level curriculum.
- Assess and monitor student progress in English language acquisition and academic achievement.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation required under New York State regulations.
- Communicate effectively with families, school staff, and community partners to support student success.
- Participate in building and district initiatives, professional learning, and team collaboration.
Requirements
- Valid New York State certification in English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
- Demonstrated knowledge of language acquisition, culturally responsive teaching practices, and differentiated instruction.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Experience
- Working with English Language Learners in a K-12 setting.
- Experience collaborating in co-teaching or integrated classroom environments.
- Familiarity with New York State ENL regulations and assessments.
- Special Education certification preferred, but not mandatory.
