Teacher Elementary Certified - Grade 2 (HGE)

About the Role

The Teacher Elementary position supports the instructional process by supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas, developing and delivering lesson plans, collaborating with staff and administrators, and communicating with parents or guardians about student progress.

This role reports to the Principal and operates on a 182-day school year schedule with 7.5 working hours per day.

Responsibilities

• Administer instructional programs and subject-specific assessments (e.g., MAP, OLSAT, SAT) to improve student success and assess competency levels.
• Communicate student progress to parents or guardians, including expectations, achievements, and methods for improvement.
• Analyze assessment data to enhance student achievement and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
• Collaborate with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources (e.g., PTA, business partners) to improve student outcomes.
• Counsel students and connect them with appropriate resources to improve performance.
• Demonstrate instructional methods and support building and district initiatives to align with collaborative goals.
• Differentiate classroom instruction to address individualized learning needs within established lesson plans.
• Direct paraprofessionals, volunteers, and student workers to support classroom programs and individual student needs.
• Facilitate student learning through field trips, technology integration, tutoring, and other strategies to achieve academic and interpersonal success.
• Maintain confidential and non-confidential records in compliance with administrative guidelines and legal requirements.
• Manage student behavior to ensure a safe and optimal learning environment in adherence to district policies.
• Model appropriate behaviors and responsibility for students.
• Monitor students in various educational environments (e.g., classroom, playground, field trips) to ensure safety and engagement.
• Organize age-appropriate indoor and outdoor activities to encourage student participation.
• Participate in meetings (e.g., PLC, SAP, staff, collaboration, PTA) to convey and gather information.
• Prepare written materials such as grades, attendance records, lesson plans, progress reports, and incident reports to document student progress and meet requirements.
• Respond to emergency situations and inquiries from teachers, students, parents, and administrators.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of the work unit.

Requirements

• Skills in administering assessment instruments, operating standard office equipment and software, and maintaining accurate records.
• Knowledge of basic math, reading technical information, composing documents, facilitating discussions, and analyzing situations.
• Familiarity with appropriate codes, policies, regulations, age-appropriate activities, lesson plan requirements, child development stages, and behavioral management strategies.
• Ability to schedule activities, gather and classify data, work with diverse individuals, adapt to changing priorities, maintain confidentiality, and work flexible hours.
• Problem-solving skills to analyze issues and create action plans, including independent interpretation of guidelines.
• Ability to establish and maintain constructive relationships, exhibit tact and patience, and work under limited supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a job-related area.
• Missouri State Teaching Certificate.
• Job-related experience is required.
• Units of continuing education as required for certification.
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.

Working Conditions

• Physical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; and fine finger dexterity.
• Job requires 10% sitting, 40% walking, and 50% standing.
• Performed under some temperature extremes and conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
