About the role

Teaches appropriate grade level standards based curriculum in Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies and Personal Development to diverse elementary students, following District Literacy Program and Everyday Math or other school/District approved curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.
  • Makes sure students follow the rules and behave appropriately.
  • Evaluates students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Puts together lesson plans and materials according to District approved curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
  • Teaches students individually and in groups using various methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions).
  • Establishes and communicates clear goals for lessons, units, and projects.
  • Prepares, administers, assigns, and grades tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using District software.
  • Prepares student, attendance, and activity reports as required by administrators.
  • Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve student behavior and academic problems.
  • May participate in extra-duty activities such as coaching, tutoring, or summer programs, as outlined in the Teachers’ Collective Bargaining Agreement and in accordance with Department of Labor regulations.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required. A Master's Degree is only required for Concurrent Enrollment positions.
  • Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license. Click here for additional information regarding specific requirements and qualifications for the various subject areas.
