Teacher (Early Childhood).

This position is for an early childhood teacher in a school setting, functioning as a classroom teacher, team teacher, or remedial/special services teacher based on the school's organizational structure.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate instructional activities under established guidelines.
• Prepare yearly instructional outlines and daily lesson plans covering relevant units of study, including objectives, activities, and evaluative methods for both group and individual programs.
• Teach students using appropriate instructional methods and techniques, utilizing available resources to ensure academic achievement.
• Provide learning experiences in assigned subject areas that develop cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills tailored to the needs and interests of all students.
• Continuously evaluate individual and group academic progress using criterion-referenced tests, standardized tests, oral tests, and other relevant evaluative methods.
• Use alternative instruction to meet individual student needs.
• Prepare and deliver progress reports to parents and confer with parents and other concerned individuals.
• Maintain required records in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Maintain classroom control and handle discipline independently, except for chronic or extreme behavior problems.
• Counsel individual students within established guidelines, using background information to provide an effective instruction-learning cycle regarding behavior and progress.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must be registered under the Military Selective Service Act and the Defense Authorization Act of 1986.
• A background security investigation will be required for all new hires; appointment is contingent upon successful completion and favorable adjudication.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, as the position may require operating a government-owned or leased motor vehicle as an incidental duty.
• Must possess and maintain valid teacher licensure/certification in the state where the position is located and in the specialty field identified by the position.
• This position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act.
• Probationary period of one academic year (two full semesters) is required to evaluate fitness and continued employment.
• Initial appointments under Public Law 95-561 do not confer competitive nor career status.

Qualifications

• Possess a Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) from an accredited educational institution.
• Hold a valid teacher certification/licensure in the appropriate endorsement area. Emergency and provisional certificates may be accepted under conditions issued by the state certification authority.
• Applicants with valid state certification in a state other than where the position is located may be considered and, if selected, will be required to obtain full state teacher certification within two full contract terms.

To meet the education requirements, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts (official or unofficial). Official transcripts are required upon selection. Ensure transcripts are not locked or encrypted and all pages, including the transcript key, are viewable.

Education must have been obtained from an accredited or pre-accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For foreign education, credentials must be evaluated by a private organization specializing in interpretation of foreign education programs and deemed equivalent to a U.S. education program.

Pay

Pay setting is based on degree and having 24 hours in education, determined after the selection process. The following pay levels apply:

• Pay Level 11: Bachelor’s Degree
• Pay Level 12: Bachelor’s Degree and 15 graduate semester hours
• Pay Level 13: Bachelor’s Degree and 30 graduate semester hours
• Pay Level 14: Master’s Degree
• Pay Level 15: Master’s Degree and 15 graduate semester hours
• Pay Level 16: Master’s Degree and 30 graduate semester hours
• Pay Level 17: Earned Doctorate

Experience is considered for determining appropriate pay increments for comparable experience. Relevant paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work, may be considered. The maximum number of years creditable for pay setting is 17.

Per-hour rates for teacher positions will be modified based on the school calendar for the location, referred to as Modified Hourly/Date Rate (MHR/MDR). Neither the MHR nor the MDR are negotiable.
