Teacher - CTE

Position Qualifications

• CTE certification from an approved Educator Preparation Program (EPP) preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution preferred.
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction and ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Specialized Responsibilities And Duties

• Affixes students in obtaining Industry Certifications.
• Serves as an active sponsor to respective Career and Technical Student Organization(s) (CTSO).
• Promotes Career and Technical Education Initiatives.

Instructional Strategies

• Develops and implements lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of school curriculum programs and show written evidence of preparation as required.
• Prepares emergency lesson plan folder to cover 2 days of material.
• Prepares lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
• Presents subject matter according to guidelines established to Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
• Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.
• Conducts assessment of student learning styles and uses results to plan instructional activities.
• Works cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for SPED students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans.
• Determines instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
• Plays a role in supervising assignments of teacher aids and volunteers.
• Utilizes technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
• Participates in extended day and weekend school tutoring as required.
• Uses ICEV curriculum to promote College and Career Readiness.

Student Growth And Development

• Helps students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
• Teaches students to work toward self-discipline and responsibility.

• Classroom Management And Organization

  • Creates a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.

    • Establishes and maintains open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, directors, and teachers.

      • Participates in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
      • Attends one Career and Technical Education conference per academic year.
