About The Role

The Bancroft School is seeking a Special Education Teacher to lead our school located in Haddonfield, NJ.

Responsibilities

• Affirms abilities and capabilities of individual students;
• Develops, organizes, and implements lesson plans and activities that are individual-specific, meet the learning needs of each student, encourage increased skills, and address specific IEP goals;
• Maintains and monitors existing IEPs to ensure that stated educational goals and objectives are appropriate, achievable, and continue to meet the educational needs of individual students;
• Recommends appropriate modifications to the existing IEP;
• May conduct parent training in the classroom and at home;
• Utilizes the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis throughout observation, intervention, data collection, and assessment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and eligibility for formal certification such as N.J. Teacher of Disabilities (or of the Handicapped) required;
• Minimum of one year of teaching experience in special education preferred;
• Eligibility for Highly-Qualified Teacher status required;
• Knowledge of teaching methods and educational programs designed for students with learning, physical and behavior disabilities;
• Effective teaching and facilitation skills required;
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills required.
