About the Role
This position reports to the County Superintendent and works under the direct supervision of designated manager(s). The Teacher Assistant provides support to special education certificated teaching staff by instructing and assisting students with a variety of complex communicative or physical disabilities. The role involves performing general classroom assistance duties.
Requirements
- Must obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of employment.
- Paid or volunteer experience in teaching, care, or assistance of students with special needs.
- Qualification for the position requires one of the following:
- Completion of 60 Semester Units (2 years of study) at an institution of higher education.
- Possession of an Associate's Degree or higher.
- Passing of a local assessment in Reading/Writing and Mathematics (conducted on the day of the interview).
- Math knowledge equivalent to high school level (basic fractions, percentages, word problems).
- Reading/Writing skills equivalent to high school level (comprehension, proper language).
- If hired, must provide proof of a valid California Driver's License.
