Teacher Assistant - Special Education

About the role

The special education teacher assistant supports the implementation of student IEP's by assisting the teacher in five areas of service: instructional support, management and supervision support, personal support, assessment support, and materials management.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the implementation of student IEP's
• Provides instructional support
• Supports management and supervision
• Offers personal support
• Assists with assessments
• Manages and organizes materials

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• District inservice training (required after hiring)
• Basic knowledge of academic subjects
• Substitution or equivalent experience preferred
• Specific skills depend on the assignment, student's needs, and IEP
• For TITLE ONE SCHOOLS: Two years (48 semester hours) full-time education at an institution of higher education or the ability to pass a Utah State Office of Education approved Para-Professional Test

Pay

$20.98 per hour (Support Salary Table 2025-2026) [Promotions result in a minimum 5% increase]

5.9 hours per day, 9 months
