Teacher Assistant Regroup

About the role

The special education teacher assistant supports full-time special education teachers by assisting with instructional duties, providing specialized tasks, and offering clerical assistance. This role involves extra supervision of students when the special education teacher is absent.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support (35%): Assist with instructional duties, provide programmed practice activities, adapt classroom activities, and assist with electronic communication devices.
• Student behavior & safety support (30%): Implement behavior plans, assist with behavior modification, monitor student behavior, and respond to emergency situations.
• Personal care & mobility (25%): Assist with personal care, support feeding tasks, lift and move students, and escort students.
• Collaboration, communication & administrative duties (10%): Maintain records, communicate student concerns, support substitute teachers, and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

All employees hired by the school district must pass a criminal background and child abuse registry check.

Benefits

This position provides an additional $1,000 per year in compensation.
