Scope & Purpose of Position
To assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing a stimulating program of activities that contribute to the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs of young children.
Actively participate in all required meetings
- Orientation
- Team meetings
- Parent groups
- Training sessions
Classroom Management and Activities
- Assist in classroom management
- Administer children’s activities
- Engage in ongoing teacher-parent meetings
- Assist with center, department, and agency tasks and activities
Paperwork and Curriculum Planning
- Attend to attendance, nutrition, lesson plans, daily health checks, fire drill records, narratives, and daily notes
- Plan and implement curricula addressing children's individual and group needs
Maintaining the Classroom Environment
- Monitor and maintain the classroom environment
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, minor repairs, and health and safety components
Observations and Reporting
- Observe and record physical and behavioral observations of children daily
- Assist with progress reports and goals
Accreditation Standards and Professional Development
- Contribute to agency cohesiveness by maintaining collaborative and team-oriented relationships
- Develop a positive relationship and communicate effectively with young children and their families
- Understand personnel policies and procedures outlined in the staff and agency handbooks
- Must develop a positive relationship and communicate effectively with young children and their families
- Must be 18 years or older
- Complete KeepSAfe and all other training requirements upon hire
- Hold a current certificate in CPR and First Aid
- Have a high school diploma or the equivalent and a Child Development Credential (CDA)
