Responsibilities

  • Assist lead teachers with developing, preparing, and implementing lesson plans and IEP goals.
  • Reinforce learning through one-on-one and small group instruction for diverse learners.
  • Oversee students during non-classroom times, including lunch, recess, and field trips.
  • Assist with documentation of student progress and parent communication.
  • Support classroom management, behavioral interventions, and positive reinforcement strategies.
  • Participate in professional development, conferences, and meetings related to special education.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills in educational settings.

  • Experience or interest in trauma-informed care and behavioral support.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's degree in education, special education, child development, or related field preferred.
  • Paraprofessional certification a plus.
  • 2-3 years of experience working with children in an educational setting, particularly with special needs.
  • Knowledge of classroom management techniques and positive behavioral interventions.
