Teacher Assistant Preschool

About the role

As a Teacher Assistant at Apple Montessori Schools in Oakland, NJ, you’ll work closely with Lead Teachers to support children as they explore, grow, and build independence in a nurturing Montessori environment. You will provide warmth, encouragement, and guidance as children try new experiences, form friendships, and develop confidence and curiosity. As an IACET Accredited Provider, Apple Montessori Schools offers IACET CEUs for its learning events that comply with the ANSI/IACET Continuing Education and Training Standard.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe, clean, and engaging learning environment for all students
• Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to support and implement lesson plans
• Maintain accurate student records and assist with family communication
• Encourage positive self-image while supporting individuality, independence, and creativity
• Model appropriate social behavior and actively engage with students
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, trainings, and mentorship programs

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• CPR / First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• A genuine love of children
• Physically able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children
• Understanding of health and safety guidelines
• Capacity to multi-task and function in an ever-changing environment
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
