TEACHER ASSISTANT-BILINGUAL

Essential Performance Responsibilities

• Provide bilingual instructional assistance in the classroom.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials.
• Present classroom instruction.
• Perform various clerical duties.
• Supervise and assist students to enrich the delivery of education.
• Assist with the effective implementation of a specific grant if necessary.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• Standard high school diploma or GED.
• Completion of Teacher Assisting Curriculum and ParaPro Test or equivalent.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English and the target ELL language.
• Sensitivity to other cultures and ability to work with students.
• Computer skills.

Paid Qualifications & Experience

• Earned associate’s degree or 60 semester hours of college credit.
• Two years of relevant experience within the last five years.
• Six semester hours in human growth and development.

Significant Contacts

• Frequent interaction with assigned classroom teacher and students.
• Periodic communication with parents under the direction of the classroom teacher or administrator.
• Frequent interaction with other personnel within the assigned school.

Physical Requirements

• Exerting up to 50 pounds of pressure occasionally.
• Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
• Exerting up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed.
