About the role
EnCircle’s Transitional Foster Care program is part of our Immigration and Refugee Services division. This program partners with Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services (LIRS) to serve unaccompanied children in the custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement, now living with foster families.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the planning, preparation, and delivery of lesson plans and instructional materials.
- Assist with the delivery of lesson plans and tests according to established procedures.
- Support the instruction and monitoring of students using learning materials and equipment.
- Utilize relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
- Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the program's rules and disciplinary systems.
- Provide feedback on student work and encourage progress.
- Update records of students' progress and development.
- Communicate necessary information to Case Managers, Clinicians, foster parents, and supervisors.
- Create and communicate clear objectives for learning activities.
- Assist the teacher in delivering classroom activities.
- Lead or assist in classrooms as needed.
- Provide backup instruction when necessary.
- Participate in school activities, staff meetings, and treatment team meetings.
- Serve as a liaison between teachers, foster parents, and case managers.
- Communicate with supervisors about student progress, concerns, or needs.
- Attend internal and external trainings and apply new knowledge on the job.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education from an accredited college, preferred.
- High School diploma plus paid experience working with youth or some college coursework in Educational Instruction.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, required.
- Prior work experience teaching ELL/ESL, preferred.
- Demonstrated cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Prior experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations preferred.
- Trauma-informed training for serving immigrant or vulnerable populations preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish and English with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.
- Flexibility and creativity in a diverse work setting.
- Excellent attention to detail and highly organized.
- Highly motivated and self-managed.
- Computer and typing skills sufficient to perform essential job functions.

Qualifications

Pay
Competitive pay starting at $20 per hour.
Schedule
Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. Weekends and evening on occasion/on call; need flexibility.
