Teacher Assistant
What You'll Do
You will work in our integrated and self contained preschool classrooms and collaborate with the Special Education Teacher to create a safe, warm and caring educational environment for our students.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Work under supervision of classroom teacher.
- Attend staffing, departmental in-service meetings as assigned.
- Maintain professional ethics in the building and out, regarding the discussion of pupils, and their conditions.
- Assist in keeping classroom and program supplies ready and well maintained.
- Interact with children at all times in a nurturing and developmentally appropriate way, while encouraging self-help.
- Assist with behavior management of children under the supervision of the classroom teacher as outlined by Program and Agency policies.
- Assist individuals with toileting and personal care needs when necessary.
- Child observation, records keeping, and assessment.
You're a great fit for this role if you have:
- A High School education or GED, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Two (2) years practical experience working with children is preferred.
- Level I NYS Teacher Assistant Certification.
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation: $17.00-$19.00 per hour (depending on experience and education).
- 10-month position with the option to work in the summer for increased compensation.
