Teacher Aide -Dodge Elementary

10 hours per week / 2 hours per day. Initial hours of assignment: 8:00 am – 10:00 am. 10 months per school year.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to students, including toileting; lifting may be involved
• Work in life-skills classrooms, job coaching, or with special-needs students
• Work collaboratively with classroom teachers
• Flexibility to work with students and adults in different classrooms
• Take initiative and help teacher prepare and set up
• Reinforce lessons and provide students assistance
• Enforce classroom and school rules, including bus duty and cafeteria duty
• Help meet the needs of all students
• Work in several classrooms throughout the day
• Oversee students in completing assigned projects
• Assist the teacher in recording grades and marks
• Proctor and help conduct examinations
• Assist in correcting test papers, themes, and essays
• Manage records, materials, and equipment
• Supervise students doing remedial work directed by teacher
• Assist in preparing bulletin boards, teacher aids, and organizing materials
• Operate audio-visual equipment and arrange for films/projectors
• Read in a foreign language from prepared scripts for tape recording
• Oversee technical operations of language laboratory equipment
• Set up science laboratory equipment, conduct experiments, and review student lab reports
• Assist in technical preparation and production of television programs
• Read to and play records for children in primary grades
• Provide musical accompaniment (piano, violin, etc.)
• Assist teachers in supervision of students and perform other support services
• Other responsibilities as directed by the Superintendent of Schools or designee

Pay

Starting pay rate: $18.90/hour.

Hourly stipends apply as follows:

• Split aide (assigned to both general education & PPS aide duties); UPK aide; Literacy aide; Primary Project aide; Health aide; Attendance aide: +$0.50/hour
• PPS aide; job coach aide: +$1.50/hour
