Main Job Tasks And Responsibilities
- Implement a curriculum that aligns with Virginia’s CTE competencies for Collision Repair Technology and I-CAR/ASE industry standards.
- Develop and deliver engaging instruction in non-structural analysis, damage repair, painting, and refinishing.
- Provide hands-on training in a lab setting using professional tools such as spray booths, frame straightening equipment, and welding tools.
- Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications, including ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) and EPA Section 609.
- Supervise and assess student progress through practical shop exercises, written evaluations, and project-based learning.
Student Support & Employability
- Guide students in developing employability skills such as teamwork, professionalism, and problem-solving.
- Support students in work-based learning opportunities, including internships and job shadowing at local body shops.
- Maintain accurate student records, including grades, attendance, and safety credential completion.
Safety & Collaboration
- Promote safety and ensure strict compliance with OSHA, VDOE, and environmental regulations regarding hazardous materials and shop equipment.
- Establish partnerships with local collision repair businesses and industry professionals to support student placement.
- Collaborate with other CTE instructors and school staff to enhance the overall student learning experience.
