What You’ll Do

• Provides instruction in basic fundamental of building maintenance (e.g., plumbing, electrical, masonry, carpentry, roofing, and drywall repair) and individual assistance
• Affords individualized attention to inmates' educational needs, developing lesson plans that include individual assignments and training
• Administers, scores, and interprets examinations and proficiency indicators
• Maintains discipline and/or security
• Counsels students on their performance, behavior, and/or personal problems
• Attends meetings as required
• Prepares required records and reports (e.g., enrollment, grades, student progress)
• Maintains inventory and orders supplies and materials needed
• Researches, selects, and recommends new teaching materials
• Attends in-service training sessions and workshops for professional development
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• This position prefers the candidate to receive a license to teach Plumbing from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
• Candidates must demonstrate at least five years experience in the plumbing trade or equivalent training or certification in the plumbing trades.
• Must meet eligibility requirements for Teacher Certificate/License appropriate for career-tech - building maintenance & grade level as assigned*
• Teacher 1, 71361, must also have a baccalaureate degree or less per OEA agreement.
