CONSTRUCTION TECH. TEACHER Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor's degree, Interim Occupational Certificate or Occupational Education Certificate in Construction Trades (CIP Code 46.0000); or if no Occupational Certificate, the ability to qualify for Annual Occupational Authorization inConstruction Trades which requires a minimum of two years or 4,000 hours (within the last 5 years) of recent and relevant paid work experience in the construction industryMust possess a valid and current Michigan Builder's LicensePrevious secondary/adult level teaching experience preferredSpecific qualifications as determined by area of instruction Duties And Responsibilities Communication and business networking skills requiredMust possess excellent organizational skills, technology skills, be detailed and team orientedInstruct students and evaluate their performances using a variety of educationally appropriate methodologiesDevelop competency based Career Technical instructional methods and materials, including curriculumFacilitates/coordinates a rigorous Construction Trades curriculum with career-related instruction and assessmentsModels enthusiasm for Construction Trades and demonstrates current innovations in the industry, including competition within the global economyPrepares orders for purchase of supplies, tools, equipment, and instructional materials necessary to support the learning activities of the Building Construction Trades programIntegrate Career & Technical Student Organization (C.T.S.O.) leadership activities into the Construction Trades programPrepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and schoolAssigns lessons and corrects student workAdministers assessments to evaluate pupil progress, records results, and issues reports to inform parents of progressMaintains all student recordsMaintains a positive system of classroom managementMeets with parents to discuss student progress and problemsParticipates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshopsPerforms related duties such as sponsoring one or more activities or student organizations, assisting pupils in selecting course of study, and counseling student in adjustment and academic problemsManage program accounts and projects, working within budget and scheduling requirementsConfer with advisory members to discuss curriculum requirements, industry standards, and to coordinate activitiesFacilitate work-based learning experiences for students (field trips, job shadows, internships, job placement)Promote and market the Clarkston Construction Trades ProgramTeach job entry skills and maintain an instructional program that reflects the actual work environmentMaintain daily student progress and attendance recordsOrganize and maintain lab and equipmentResponsible for incorporating fundamentals of Algebra 2, resulting in embedded credit of Algebra 2Coordinate with other instructional team members to ensure best/compatible use of and common program equipment and equipment securityRegular and predictable attendanceOther duties may be assigned.
