Responsibilities
- Assess the educational needs of inmates
- Provide instruction and supervision of students in a regularly scheduled vocational program
- Conduct classroom sessions and on-the-job training assistance
- Plan and outline necessary class objectives and make lesson plans
- Prepare and administer tests within the framework of the program
- Develop special methods of instruction for the vocational program in assigned teaching areas
- Give individual instruction and encouragement to trainees as needed
- Maintain records of vocational students on attendance, achievement, attitude, and conduct
- Order supplies and maintain inventory of equipment and supplies used in the vocational program
- Work with other departments in the institution as part of a total team approach to rehabilitation
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
- Must meet eligibility requirements for Teacher Certificate/License appropriate for career-tech (barbering) and grade level as assigned
- Current Ohio Barber certificate pursuant to Section 4709.19 (B) of Revised Code
- Teacher 1, 71351, must also have a baccalaureate degree or less per OEA agreement
- Applicant must successfully obtain Teacher Certificate or License prior to employment
