Responsibilities

• Assess the educational needs of inmates
• Provide instruction and supervision of students in a regularly scheduled vocational program
• Conduct classroom sessions and on-the-job training assistance
• Plan and outline necessary class objectives and make lesson plans
• Prepare and administer tests within the framework of the program
• Develop special methods of instruction for the vocational program in assigned teaching areas
• Give individual instruction and encouragement to trainees as needed
• Maintain records of vocational students on attendance, achievement, attitude, and conduct
• Order supplies and maintain inventory of equipment and supplies used in the vocational program
• Work with other departments in the institution as part of a total team approach to rehabilitation
• Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

• Must meet eligibility requirements for Teacher Certificate/License appropriate for career-tech (barbering) and grade level as assigned
• Current Ohio Barber certificate pursuant to Section 4709.19 (B) of Revised Code
• Teacher 1, 71351, must also have a baccalaureate degree or less per OEA agreement
• Applicant must successfully obtain Teacher Certificate or License prior to employment
