TDY Registered Nurse- SRC Hooper Bay

Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization serving nearly 30,000 people across rural southwest Alaska in villages with populations from about 10 to more than 1,000. Bethel, the regional hub and location of the only hospital in the region, has a population of nearly 7,000. The Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta is home to thousands of lakes and two primary rivers—the Kuskokwim and Yukon.

About the role

Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Directs and coordinates nursing care for patients based on nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient care to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. Serves as a resource person when required. Applies age-specific considerations and cultural diversity in patient care. Supports Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation’s mission statement. Provides care for all patients from birth to elderly.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process.
• Direct and coordinate nursing care based on established nursing practice standards.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure quality, cost-effective care and optimal patient outcomes.
• Administer treatments, medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and provide patient/family/significant other education.
• Document all actions involved in care delivery.
• Supervise Unit Secretaries and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) in collaboration with the Charge Nurse.
• Serve as a resource person in complex patient care situations.
• Apply age-specific and culturally appropriate care considerations.

Requirements

• Completed a program of education in nursing from an NLN-approved institution.
• Licensed in good standing in the State of Alaska as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Preferred one year of experience in a healthcare setting as a Registered Nurse.
• Ability to pass and maintain competencies for this position.

• Knowledge of nursing practices as described in Alaska statutes regarding Registered Nursing.
• Cognitive and technical knowledge to manage care across the continuum.
• Ability to utilize the nursing process in patient care.
• Basic EKG and nursing skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
• Ability to document care delivery accurately.
• Ability to follow guidelines and procedures effectively.
• Theoretical knowledge of the nursing process, care management, and continuity of care.
• Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, ratios).
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Flexibility with work schedule and ability for independent action within prescribed limits.

Pay

Minimum hourly pay: $75.00.

Schedule

• Temporary position (Direct TDY).
• 40 hours per week.

Location: Hooper Bay Subregional Center, Hooper Bay, Alaska. Temporary employment duration.
