About the role

In this role, you will provide substance use counseling, facilitate rehabilitation programming, support inmate reentry planning, assign and supervise the work of others and assist in instructing others in program methods, procedures, and functions while maintaining compliance with Substance Use Program standards.

You will be responsible for providing substance use counseling, facilitating rehabilitation programming, and supporting inmate reentry planning. You will also assign and supervise the work of others and assist in instructing others in program methods, procedures, and functions.

Requirements

  • Four years of experience in substance use treatment
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders, the disease model of addiction, codependency, and related disorders, as well as counseling and recovery practices
  • Current, valid license as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) through the Texas Department of State Health Services, or a current valid certification as a Certified Criminal Justice Professional (CCJP) through the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals, or another qualifying credential that authorizes you to conduct counseling in a treatment environment

Qualifications

You would be a good fit if you are detail-oriented and have experience working in a therapeutic community environment. You would be a great fit if you have experience supervising employees and are familiar with substance use screening tools and treatment programs, demonstrating an understanding of structured treatment processes and supportive intervention methods.

Additional Information

Travel is not required, but the position may make day trips. The position requires pre-service training at the Training Academy and is considered a hazardous duty/longevity position. Outside applicants will be required to submit to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment.
