About the role

In this role, you will provide advanced specialized substance use and substance use disorder assessments in compliance with substance use treatment program standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures. This position also assists in substance use treatment programs and coordinates with other departments, divisions, and agencies for the delivery of treatment services to inmates with histories of substance use, abuse, and/or addiction.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced specialized substance use and substance use disorder assessments
  • Comply with substance use treatment program standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Assist in substance use treatment programs
  • Coordinate with other departments, divisions, and agencies to deliver treatment services to inmates

Requirements

  • Current valid license as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), Certified Criminal Justice Professional (CCJP), or another qualifying credential that allows you to conduct counseling in a treatment environment
  • Experience in substance use treatment
  • Familiarity with substance use screening tools, assessments, and treatment programs (for a great fit)
  • Experience working with incarcerated individuals (for a great fit)
  • Understanding of substance use disorders, the disease model of addiction, codependency, and related conditions (for a great fit)
  • Solid knowledge of counseling and recovery approaches (for a great fit)
  • Pre-employment drug testing required for outside applicants
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship

Additional Information

  • No travel required; position may make day trips but no overnight trips
  • No work site visits or study material required
  • Pre-Service Training Academy required
  • Hazardous Duty/Longevity position
