About the role

Performs highly complex inventory and retail sales work in a unit commissary. Work involves stocking, arranging, and transferring inventory; displaying and selling merchandise; ensuring compliance with established security requirements, loss prevention controls, and procedures; and providing guidance to others. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.

Responsibilities

  • Stocking, arranging, and transferring inventory

  • Providing guidance to others
  • Maintaining accurate inventory records and reconciling discrepancies
  • Following established procedures for receiving, selling, delivering and overall accounting for inventory
  • Using inventory, financial, and computer systems to track transactions and maintain accurate records
  • Communicating effectively with staff, vendors, and incarcerated individuals

Requirements

  • Experience managing inventory, receiving, and selling products
  • Ability to maintain accurate inventory records and reconcile discrepancies
  • Ability to learn commissary operations, policies, procedures, and security requirements
  • Organized, dependable, and able to prioritize multiple tasks in a correctional environment
  • Effective communication with staff, vendors, and incarcerated individuals
  • Ability to use inventory, financial, and computer systems to track transactions and maintain accurate records
  • Ability to follow established procedures for receiving, selling, delivering and overall accounting for inventory

Qualifications

  • Strong inventory management or commissary operations experience
  • Ability to consistently identify and resolve inventory discrepancies before they become larger issues
  • Understanding of the importance of accuracy, accountability, security, and customer service in a unit commissary
  • Ability to independently manage daily operations while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
  • Strong problem-solving, organization, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a correctional environment while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality
  • Looks for ways to improve processes, reduce errors, increase efficiency, and provide reliable commissary services

Work site visits will be conducted. Training Academy is required.

Additional Information: Travel: None - Position may make day trips, but no overnight trips. Hazardous Duty/Longevity Position: Hazardous. Outside applicants will be required to submit to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment.
