TDCJ - Case Manager III - Substance Use Programs

About the role

This position performs complex case management work involving reviewing and tracking case management activities for inmates participating in substance use programs. This position works closely with the treatment team, security staff, and others to monitor inmate progress while also preparing and presenting educational materials in individual and group settings.

Responsibilities

• Deliver structured instructional sessions
• Monitor inmate participation
• Document progress
• Submit accurate reports and related records

Requirements

• Graduated from an accredited high school or have a GED
• Detail-oriented
• Communicate professionally while building strong rapport
• Work well in a team environment
• Familiarity with rehabilitation programs
• Comfortable facilitating structured educational groups and guiding discussions on substance use, cognitive intervention, anger management, and recovery
• Strong documentation skills to accurately track progress, prepare reports, and maintain organized records
• Solution-focused when managing challenging behaviors
• Committed to supporting positive change
• Experience working in a criminal justice setting (preferred)

Additional Information

• Pre-Service Training Academy required
• Hazardous Duty position
• Outside applicants will be required to submit to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment
• No travel required (position may make day trips, but no overnight trips)
• No work site visits
• No study material required
