About the role

As part of TCEQ’s Office of Administrative Services, you would contribute to protecting and restoring Texas’ air quality within the Information Resources Division.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to requests logged into call-tracking software for assistance with hardware, application, or network problems; provide explanations on problem resolutions, steps to implement them, and preventative measures.
  • Provide desktop support services to customers, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, upgrading, repair, and maintenance of desktop hardware, software, and client applications in accordance with agency standards.
  • Provision agency iOS devices.
  • Identify technology problems and coordinate with other technical and management staff to effect solutions.
  • Inform management of the status of assigned service calls and promptly when unable to resolve a customer complaint.
  • Document the status and completion of calls in call-tracking software.
  • Mentor junior staff in customer service delivery and in the installation, configuration, testing, monitoring, and repair of PC systems.
  • Communicate with TCEQ customers about the dangers of the internet and the damage it can cause to IT equipment.
  • Enforce and comply with TCEQ IT security policies and hardware and software standards.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience with IT customer service in a call-center/help-desk environment.
  • Experience supporting or troubleshooting PC and printer hardware.
  • Experience configuring/troubleshooting devices in a networked environment.
  • Experience provisioning iOS devices in MDM.
  • Experience with cloud-based administration such as Azure, Intune, SharePoint, Exchange, Teams.
  • Experience with telecommunication VoIP administration.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of full-time experience in data processing and assisting users in computer application use or troubleshooting computer systems problems (hardware/software).
  • OR fifteen semester hours in computer science from an accredited college or university, or 300 clock hours in computer science from a licensed vocational, technical, or business school, and three (3) years of full-time experience in data processing and assisting users in computer application use or troubleshooting computer systems problems (hardware/software).
  • OR an associate degree in computer science and two (2) years of full-time experience in data processing and assisting users in computer application use or troubleshooting computer systems problems (hardware/software).
  • OR a bachelor’s degree in computer science and one (1) year of full-time experience in data processing and assisting users in computer application use or troubleshooting computer systems problems (hardware/software).
  • OR one (1) year of full-time experience in TCEQ as an IT Support Specialist IV.

Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure; the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue employment with TCEQ.

Education

A copy of your official college transcript or evaluation of foreign credentials in CAPPS is required if needed to meet the qualifications listed above.

Schedule

Standard business hours are M–F, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; individual and work-group schedule determined by the TCEQ Beaumont Regional Office.
