TCEQ - Environmental Investigator II

As part of TCEQ Compliance and Enforcement, you would help ensure that those we regulate comply with the state’s environmental laws.

Responsibilities

Perform routine technical work in the field of air, water, or waste pollution for the Abilene Regional Office of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Specific duties include:

• Conduct technical inspections, surveys, and follow-up investigations; prepare reports which document field activities and observed conditions.
• Conduct environmental monitoring; and prepare technical papers regarding studies involving environmental subjects.
• Provide technical assistance to the public, regulated community, and other interested groups regarding the application of appropriate regulations.
• Assist with collecting and analyzing environmental samples.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have experience:

• Interpreting rules, regulations, policies, or procedures.
• Conducting inspections or investigations.
• Collecting environmental samples.
• Interacting with the public, media, and/or regulated community to provide technical and/or non-technical information.
• Working with environmental issues, specifically water supply system issues.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field. OR Four years of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities directly related to the examples of work performed.

Skills

Ability to maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility.

Schedule

Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. This position requires 50% travel and otherwise full-time in-office scheduled at the Abilene Regional Office.
