TCEQ - Environmental Investigator II

Join TCEQ as an experienced Environmental Investigator, ready for a unique opportunity to grow with an environmental state agency. As part of TCEQ Compliance and Enforcement, you would help ensure that those we regulate comply with the state's environmental laws.
This position is a member of our Houston Regional Office. A copy of your official college transcript or evaluation of foreign credentials may be required to meet the qualifications listed above.
Responsibilities
- Conduct technical inspections, surveys, and follow-up investigations; prepare reports which document field activities and observed conditions.
- Conduct environmental monitoring and prepare technical papers regarding studies involving environmental subjects.
- Provide technical assistance to the public, regulated community, and other interested groups regarding the application of appropriate regulations.
- Assist with collecting and analyzing environmental samples.
Requirements
- Experience in environmental activities.
- Experience interpreting rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field is generally preferred, but not required. Alternatively, four years of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities directly related to the examples of work performed may be considered.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. The ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Houston Region Office.
