About the role
Join the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) as an Environmental Investigator in the Tyler regional office. This position is part of TCEQ Compliance and Enforcement, where you will help ensure compliance with the state's environmental laws and protect public health and natural resources.
Responsibilities
- Conduct technical inspections, surveys, and follow-up investigations; prepare reports documenting field activities and observed conditions.
- Conduct environmental monitoring and prepare technical papers regarding studies involving environmental subjects.
- Provide technical assistance to the public, regulated community, and other interested groups regarding the application of appropriate regulations.
- Assist with collecting and analyzing environmental samples.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field.
- One year of full-time experience in environmental activities may substitute for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education.
- Ability to maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure (e.g., communication systems, cybersecurity, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment, or water treatment facilities) is required.
- Official college transcript or evaluation of foreign credentials may be required to verify qualifications.
This position requires 50% travel and full-time in-office work scheduled at the Region 5 Tyler office during standard business hours (M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.).
