TCEQ - CAPPS Reporting Coordinator

About the role

Join TCEQ's Chief Budget & Efficiency Office as a Data Analyst in the Fiscal Control Division. This position supports the Executive Office with oversight of the agency's budget, strategic planning, and efficiency initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deploy CAPPS queries/reports using a graphical interface.
• Create complex CAPPS queries that include joined tables, criteria, and prompts.
• Edit existing CAPPS statewide queries to produce data relevant to TCEQ business needs.
• Analyze and provide technical support to program areas in conjunction with CAPPS queries.
• Collaborate with program areas to validate the accuracy of CAPPS queries.
• Translate program area reporting and analytical needs into actionable reports.
• Create and edit reports in CAPPS SAP Business Objects (BOBJ).
• Develop dashboards in Power BI.
• Create BOBJ reports to assist with reconciliation and business processes.
• Monitor and optimize the performance of queries/reports in CAPPS/BOBJ.
• Develop and deliver training materials for CAPPS Query Manager and BOBJ users, including desk aids, quarterly training sessions, and one-on-one instruction.
• Provide backup support to the CAPPS Security Coordinator.
• Complete other duties or projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Experience using the Centralized Accounting and Payroll/Personnel Systems (CAPPS) Financials.
• Experience performing public drinking water system analyses, such as evaluation of water quality, water chemistry, or water microbial assessment.
• Experience creating Power BI dashboards.
• Experience building CAPPS Financials queries.

Qualifications

Required education and experience:

• Five years of full-time experience in data analysis, data research, data compilation, and/or reporting work.
• OR a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, basic science, computer science, environmental science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field, plus three years of the required experience.
• OR a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, plus four years of the required experience.

A copy of your official college transcript or evaluation of foreign credentials in CAPPS is required if needed to meet the qualifications listed above.

Employees in this classification may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to communication infrastructure systems, cybersecurity systems, electric grids, hazardous waste treatment systems, or water treatment facilities. The ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement for employment.

Schedule

Standard business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Individual and work group schedules are determined by the Fiscal Control Division.
