Tax Supervisor - Fox Tax

Your Future Team Fox Tax is a Minneapolis-based CPA firm founded in 2004, focused on supporting clients in the art and entertainment industry. The firm was built to serve creatives and independent professionals, helping artists, musicians, and small creative businesses navigate complex tax situations and build sustainable careers. Our client base includes a wide range of creative professionals across the country, many with multiple income streams and nontraditional financial needs. Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day workflow and client-facing activities of the tax compliance team.
• Review complex tax returns; primarily individual returns, along with S Corporation and Partnership engagements; ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable regulations.
• Serve as a primary point of contact and trusted advisor for assigned clients.
• Take on a return-signing responsibility, bringing strong technical expertise in tax law, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Perform final preparation and review of complex federal, state, and local tax returns (individual, corporate, S corporation, and partnership), ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax laws and firm standards.
• Communicate tax results, implications, and planning strategies clearly and effectively with clients.
• Manage workflow across assigned tax engagements, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are completed efficiently, particularly during peak seasons.
• Cook up and oversee tax research, documenting conclusions and recommendations for internal and client-facing use.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop staff and senior accountants, providing guidance, feedback, and support for professional growth.
• Promote adherence to firm standards, best practices, and quality expectations.
• Oversee quarterly and annual tax provision calculations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and related disclosures.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve tax processes, workflows, and technology utilization.
• Support operational efficiency initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• A CPA certification is preferred or in progress/actively pursuing or Enrolled Agent status required.
• A Master’s in Taxation (Mtax) is a plus.
• A minimum of 4-6 years of progressive tax accounting experience, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory, senior, or team lead capacity.
• Must have managed client engagements and signed tax returns in the past.
• Strong proficiency with tax preparation software (e.g., Drake, CCH Axcess, UltraTax, GoSystem) and tax research platforms.
• Advanced Excel skills are essential.

• Proven ability to lead, delegate tasks, and provide effective guidance to junior staff.
• Superior analytical ability and critical-thinking skills to interpret complex tax codes and resolve challenging tax scenarios.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for managing a team and interacting with managers, clients, or tax authorities.

Pay

Base salary of $100,000-$120,000 plus discretionary bonus (exact base salary amount will be dependent on experience).

Full-time position.
