About the role
We are seeking an experienced Tax Senior/Supervisor to lead tax compliance, planning, and advisory work for a diverse portfolio of domestic and international clients. This role will oversee day-to-day tax operations, manage and mentor staff, ensure timely and accurate filing of returns, and support strategic tax initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage tax compliance for corporate, partnership, and individual returns, including preparation, review, and timely filing.
- Supervise, train, and mentor junior tax staff; assign work, provide feedback, and oversee performance.
- Cook up and execute tax planning strategies for clients and the organization to optimize tax positions and cash flow.
- Handle international tax matters including cross-border transactions, withholding, transfer pricing support, and compliance for foreign entities.
- Conduct technical tax research and interpret federal, state, and international tax law; prepare memos and client advisories.
- Serve as primary client contact for assigned engagements; manage expectations, deliverables, and deadlines.
- Collaborate with external auditors and other advisors during audits, due diligence, and special projects.
- Drove process improvements, enhance tax workflows, and implement tax technology/tools to increase efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and internal controls, maintaining high professional and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required or actively pursuing CPA.
- 5+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting or corporate tax, with experience supervising staff.
- Demonstrated experience as a Tax Senior or Tax Supervisor; generalist tax background covering corporate, partnership, and individual matters.
- Experience with international tax issues, cross-border transactions, and familiarity with transfer pricing concepts.
- Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax laws and accounting for income taxes (ASC 740).
- Proficiency with tax preparation and research software (e.g., UltraTax, GoSystem, Thomson Reuters, RIA) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven client management abilities.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills with an ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; advanced degree (MST/LLM) a plus.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment; willing to travel as needed.
