What We Are Looking For

This position is primarily responsible for preparation of tax accounting for US GAAP and US STAT including life insurance tax adjustments. The role will also be heavily involved in the tax return process; review/prepare federal and state tax returns and related workpapers, assist with quarterly estimates, and work with tax providers. This position is also responsible for preparing the provision to tax return computations, basic tax research, and assist with special projects including tax planning. This role reports to the Tax Manager and is required to be onsite 3 days a week at our Durham, NC headquarters.

What You Will Do

• Prepare quarterly and year-end US GAAP and Statutory current provisions and deferred tax accounting
• Auxiliary with special projects including tax planning
• Auxiliary in the tax return process including information gathering process
• Work with third-party service providers
• Perform basic tax research and analysis projects
• Auxiliary with IRS, state tax examinations and general tax notice response

What We Require

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar role
• Moderate knowledge of tax accounting under ASC 740 and basic federal tax compliance skills
• Analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access applications
• Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
