Job Summary

As a Tax Senior Accountant, you will prepare financial information for clients, such as business and individual tax returns, while gaining exposure to a diverse client base across various industries. You will also manage a portfolio of tax engagements, maintain client relationships, and collaborate with partners and managers to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Job Description

  • Tax Preparation Lead and Manage Portfolio: Lead and manage a portfolio of tax engagements, including planning, preparation, and review of various tax returns (individual, corporate, partnership, etc.).
  • Primary Point of Contact: Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, addressing their tax-related inquiries, providing recommendations, and fostering strong client relationships.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to develop proactive tax planning strategies for clients, identifying opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and optimize financial outcomes.
  • Client Communication: Collaborate with the internal team to assist in providing expert guidance on complex tax matters, including mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and other business transactions. Prepare and deliver presentations to clients on tax-related matters, providing insights into their financial situations and potential tax implications.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Review and oversee the preparation of tax returns to ensure accuracy, compliance with regulations, and adherence to internal quality control standards. Monitor and manage tax filing deadlines, extensions, and other compliance requirements to avoid penalties and ensure timely submissions. Stay current with federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and changes, ensuring the firm and its clients are compliant with the latest tax requirements.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other tax professionals within the firm to share insights, knowledge, and best practices. Supervise and mentor tax staff, providing guidance, training, and feedback to foster their professional growth and ensure the quality of their work. Cultivate a collaborative team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and effective communication among team members. Participate in internal training sessions to enhance your technical skills and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Process Improvement and Innovation: Identify opportunities to enhance tax workflows, processes, and methodologies, contributing to the continuous improvement of the firm's tax services.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • 3 - 6 years of relevant experience

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience in professional service environment, such as a CPA firm, financial consulting firm, or similar setting
  • Actively working towards achieving CPA or Enrolled Agent licensure or relevant certification, if not already attained
  • Experience in using software such as CCH Prosystem FX, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, Checkpoint for Tax Research
  • Achievement of the minimum CPE credit requirement
