About the Role

We are seeking a Tax Manager for our Personal Tax Advisory Group in one of our Northeast Ohio offices: Cleveland, Akron, or Wooster. The Tax Manager will specialize in personal and fiduciary tax and is responsible for all facets of client engagements, including supervising staff and directing the day-to-day progress of the engagement. This role prepares to assume increasing responsibility to handle a larger quantity and complexity of client assignments and begin developing client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of tax law, regulations, and complex tax issues.
  • Apply research and analytical skills to provide advice to firm members and consult directly with clients regarding tax issues.
  • Ensure data accuracy and reliability by applying appropriate accounting and tax theory during engagements.
  • Direct the overall progress of larger tax return projects and tax research, including planning, organization, delegation, and coordination of work.
  • Identify problems or opportunities for improvement in clients’ systems, procedures, or business operations.
  • Coordinate staff to resolve tax-related issues and communicate effectively with the engagement team to share information and meet deadlines.
  • Assist with and lead engagement planning, including outlining major issues, determining needs for additional information, and supervising staff in tax return preparation.
  • Complete workpapers, checklists, and research memos, and submit reviewed tax returns on a timely basis.
  • Participate in the proposal process and begin training on administrative, practice management, and development matters.
  • Provide timely coaching and feedback to staff, assist in performance evaluations, and support their career development.
  • Develop expertise in federal, state, and local taxation rules and understand Meaden & Moore’s technical standards.
  • Comply with continuing professional education requirements.
  • Actively participate in firm and community programs, and seek opportunities to expand your professional network.

Qualifications

  • Accounting, Business, or related degree preferred.
  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum 4 to 6 years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and basic operating systems.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in quantitative and qualitative research, relationship-building, leadership, project management, and business development.
  • Self-motivated and willing to work in a team environment.

Pay

Base compensation for this role typically ranges between $100,000 and $130,000. Additionally, the firm offers a generous incentive program and various other bonus opportunities which reward exceptional performance.
