Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor providing tax, accounting, and advisory services to NFP clients.
  • Oversee and deliver accounting, bookkeeping, and prepared or compiled financial statements.
  • Review and analyze accounting records, provide consultation, and communicate with clients on accounting and business matters.
  • Lead and plan client engagements, evaluate processes, and identify efficiencies and internal control issues.
  • Recommend business and process improvements based on client operations and objectives.
  • Manage and build client relationships, acting as a liaison to resolve issues and provide additional services.
  • Delegate and oversee work efforts, set goals, and ensure timely delivery to meet client expectations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of local, state, and federal tax practices and laws.
  • Manage client engagement staffing, billings, collections, and ensure profitability targets are met.
  • Network internally and externally to build relationships with clients and the community.
  • Invest in professional development through firm-wide learning programs and support team growth using the Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy.
  • Participate in social activities and team outings that encourage work-life balance.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree required; Master's degree or other advanced degree desirable.
  • CPA, Law License, or Enrolled Agent certification required.
  • Five (5) years of experience providing NFP or corporate tax compliance, accounting, and advisory services in a professional services firm.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience, including mentoring and counseling associates.
  • Demonstrated skills in management, analytics, organization, interpersonal relations, project management, and communication.
  • Ability to lead and supervise others, provide exceptional client service, and commit to continuous learning.
  • Proficiency in software and Microsoft Suite tools.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship preferred.
  • NFP industry experience in a public accounting environment preferred.

Pay

The national pay rate range for this position is $91,220 - $172,990. In California, the pay rate range is $112,500 - $172,950. Actual compensation is influenced by skills, experience, qualifications, degrees, certifications, work arrangements, and geographic location.
