About the role

We currently have an exciting career opportunity for an Experienced Tax Manager to join the State and Local Tax (SALT) team in our Internal Finance Department. This position is considered remote, meaning it does not require job duties to be performed within proximity of a CohnReznick office location. However, as a remote employee, you may be required to be present at a CohnReznick office with scheduled notice for internal work, team meetings, or trainings.

This position will support our Finance Tax Team. The right candidate will have a growth mindset, seek to expand their knowledge within the tax space, and collaborate on thought leadership, webinars, and seminars while remaining results-focused on achieving business goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide income tax compliance and consulting services, including audit controversy, due diligence, tax projections, and research.
• Gain broad exposure to the Income Tax Compliance Practice.
• Enhance project and task management skills.
• Receive support and mentoring from experienced CPAs in accounting, auditing, and tax.
• Collaborate with the broader CohnReznick team to deliver high-quality service.
• Interact directly with high-level Finance personnel to understand and serve their needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Master’s in Tax is a plus.
• CPA, CMA, CMI, JD, or EA is required.
• Minimum of 7 years of income tax compliance experience, primarily involving partnership return preparation and review with an emphasis on state income tax.
• Prior involvement and working knowledge of multi-state partnership return preparation and review preferred.
• Proficiency in income tax compliance software, preferably OneSource Income Tax, GoSystems, and CCH Axcess.
• Solid experience in researching and addressing multi-state income tax matters.
• Exceptional communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding relationships.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Proven competence with MS Office, including advanced Excel skills.
• Working knowledge of tax research software, including CCH and RIA Checkpoint.
• Solid organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task.
• Travel required – approximately 10%.

Pay

In Maryland, the salary range for a Tax Manager is $120,000 to $170,000. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, and location, as well as applicable employment laws.
