This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional who is ready to take ownership of client engagements, provide high-level tax guidance, manage staff, and build strong long-term client relationships.The Tax Manager will play a key role in overseeing individual, business, trust, partnership, and corporate tax compliance, while also identifying tax issues and opportunities that can improve client outcomes.This position offers a high degree of autonomy, flexibility, and professional responsibility, with the opportunity to work on-site or in a hybrid environment.The ideal candidate will combine strong technical tax knowledge with excellent communication, organization, leadership, and client-management skills. Key Responsibilities Tax Compliance & Technical Review: Perform technical reviews of business, trust, partnership, corporate, and individual income tax returns.Manage tax engagements from initial planning through final delivery.Ensure tax returns and related work products are accurate, complete, timely, and compliant with applicable tax laws.Identify and resolve tax issues while developing practical recommendations for clients.Research complex tax matters and apply current tax authorities and regulations to client situations.Identify opportunities for tax planning, savings, and improved client outcomes.Apply creative and strategic tax ideas to help clients improve their financial and tax positions.Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local tax developments. Project & Task Management Manage multiple client engagements and projects simultaneously.Prioritize workload and ensure deadlines are consistently met.Take ownership of assigned projects and see them through from beginning to completion.Deliver timely, accurate, and high-quality work products that exceed client expectations.Coordinate with internal team members to ensure engagements remain on schedule.Communicate proactively regarding project status, challenges, and deadlines. Client & Engagement Management The Tax Manager will serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for assigned clients. Responsibilities Include Develop strong, long-term client relationships.Gain a thorough understanding of each client's business, industry, and financial objectives.Serve as Engagement Manager on designated client accounts.Take responsibility for engagement planning, execution, review, and final delivery.Manage the overall tax compliance process and engagement timeline.Schedule and delegate work to appropriate staff.Ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on time.Communicate engagement status and significant issues to the President.Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the engagement.Explain complex tax concepts in a clear and understandable manner.Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and provide additional value. Staff Management & Professional Development Take responsibility for the work and activities of assigned staff.Effectively delegate tasks and manage workflow.Review staff work and provide constructive feedback.Mentor and develop team members' technical and industry knowledge.Encourage professional growth and continued learning.Help team members develop stronger tax research, compliance, and client-service skills.Promote a collaborative, professional, and high-performing team environment. Technical & Professional Development Stay current on changes in federal, state, and local taxation.Monitor emerging tax regulations, legislation, technical authorities, and industry developments.Apply new tax knowledge to increasingly complex client situations.Conduct tax research and communicate findings effectively.Continue developing technical expertise and professional knowledge. Requirements 6-8+ years of professional tax compliance experience; 6 years minimum required.Extensive experience with individual and business tax compliance.Active CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential required.Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.Strong technical knowledge of federal income taxation.Ability to independently manage tax engagements from beginning to end.Strong tax research and analytical skills.Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to explain complex tax matters clearly to clients and colleagues.Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and client engagements simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications Candidates with the following experience are especially encouraged to apply: Experience serving clients across multiple industries.Strong knowledge of corporate taxation.Strong knowledge of trust taxation.Strong knowledge of partnership taxation.Experience with multi-state income and franchise tax filings.Broad exposure to federal income taxation.Previous staff management or supervisory experience.Strong client relationship-management skills.Business development experience preferred but not required.Experience identifying tax planning opportunities and improving client results.Excellent tax research, writing, communication, and organizational skills.
